The Holst Singers and Stephen Layton were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of James Bowman. One of the world's leading countertenors, James was a much-loved and inspiring figure in the choral world and we were privileged to have him as our President for around 30 years, until he stepped down last year due to his ill health. We are very grateful for his support and enjoyed our collaborations with him, which included several tracks on our first CD of Russian Orthodox music, "Ikon", back in 1997.
