Holst Singers is a fantastic London-based choir that sings new and neglected works as well as core choral repertoire, under the baton of its Musical Director Stephen Layton. Highlights in recent years include concerts of Palestrina and contemporary Eastern European composers, Byrd and Bruckner, Brahms' Requiem, the Rachmaninov Vespers and the unforgettable Veil of the Temple - an all-night vigil by John Tavener which we performed in Trondheim, Norway.
We typically do four to five major concerts per year plus carol services and occasional cathedral visits. We generally rehearse for around 6 weeks before a concert. Our normal rehearsal day is Monday from 7 - 9:30pm at St Mark's Church, Regent's Park, and occasionally Wednesday. Singers sign up to projects according to their availability so you can select projects that suit you and your schedule. We will soon be holding two audition evenings, on Monday 21st March and Monday 4th April, from 18.30 to 21.00 in London. The audition will last approximately 10 minutes and will consist of a prepared piece from Handel's Messiah, sight-reading and aural tests. Sign up via our website or email fixer@holstsingers.com.
We look forward to hearing from you!
